Series 3 - Instructions

The 3rd Series is near where the 1st and 2nd Series was today. We will be going in a different gate so watch for signage in the morning!

First test dog will run at 7:30 am. First running dog will run at 8:00 am.

2nd Series – Land Double with Rooster Pheasants

52 Dog Teams were called back to run this Series

After the test was set up, Test Dogs began the Series this morning at 10:56 am, beginning with "Pup Pup" and then next up was "Stinker" giving the dog teams a look at this 2nd test.

The first running dog kicked off the 2nd Series test at 11:12 am. It was #20 Rooster Tail Talley Ho, “Tally,” BLF handled by Nick Freckley.


The weather this afternoon got into the 50's with clear skies and a NNE Wind at about 12-15 mph.

This was a Pretty Smooth Series!

Our last running dog for this series was dog #19 C & N's Queen Of The Teche, “Ibe” with Handler Paul Sletten. They completed the test this afternoon at 2:28 pm.


There were 52 dogs sent from the line in this series, taking almost exactly 3 hours and 16 minutes, which averages out to be a little bit less than 4 minutes per dog. 

The 2nd Series is officially in the books and we will be on to the 3rd Series next!!!

L – Up and over the ridge, set up a small hunt behind the ridge and worked back to the bird.

R – 3/4 of the way around the tree and she stopped, came back and got the bird.

R – Through the slot between guns and the bird, got just past the tree and turned back to the bird.

L – Out to the terrace behind the guns, turned right and got the bird.

R – Down the tree line, under the branches and he got his bird.

Stinker came to the line at 11:04 am.

Test Description - 2nd Series

Test 2 – Land Double with Rooster Pheasants

Dam Field 

Test 2 is a Land Double with Rooster Pheasants and the mat facing South. It is 60 degrees and there is a 7mph wind blowing over the handler’s right shoulder. 

The dam field is a bowl shape, lined with trees on the right and a steep levy on the left. 

The Left gun station sits 231 yards from the line. It is a Rooster pheasant, thrown flat, Left to Right on the top of a terrace hill. 

The Right gun station sits 136 yards from the line. It is also a Rooster pheasant, thrown angled back to the base of a pine tree. 

We will refer to the Right Bird as R, and the Left Bird as L. 

The test is taking approximately 2:20 per dog.

Dog #20 will start this series ...

1st Series – Land Single with a Rooster Pheasant Flyer

After the test was set up, Test Dogs began the Series this morning at 7:35 am, beginning with "Stinker" and then "Pup Pup" giving the dog teams a look at this first test.
