F – Swam past the 1st point, onto the second point, exited the water and just right of the bird, a quick turn and she got it!
L – Initial line was very right, and as soon as she hit the water she corrected to the left – she exited the water right at the bird!
Hazel and Cary came to the line at 12:51 pm
LB – Straight out to the right side of the guns for a few turns wide right away from the bird – crossed back across the road and got her bird.
RB – Out right of the guns to the tree line and back left to her bird!

Down the hill and across the road, up the left side of the field, crossed the road to the left of the guns, came across from behind and got her bird.

S – Down the terrace over the land bridge in to the pond, cut the corner and drove past the guns into the back piece of the water, back over the levee and down to her bird.
L – Nice angled line down the hill, swam left of the point, and had a good line towards the far shore under the arc, 1 loop on the land and then she got down to the water for the bird.
Hazel and Cary came to the line at 1:33 pm
F – Down through the draw, up to the right of the bushes, 1 circle and then left over to the bird.
LB – Down into pond 1, out across the broad point back into the water at the corner before the land bridge, out and over the land bridge – into pond 2 – straight up between the guns and bushes, made a few turns deep, came around the back of the gunners and got her bird.
Hazel and Cary came to the line at 9:10 am
F – Headed to the guns, crossed in front of them and then a quick turn left, then out wide right for the bird.
L – Came in under the arc, around the back of the trees, went in and got it!

When did you begin competing in Field Trials? Many years ago
What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I started out in obedience and then hunt tests and loved working with the dogs. I saw that field trials would present a different level of challenge and I was eager to continue learning about dog training.
Who are your training partners at home?
I train with Fox Hollow Retrievers in Mondovi, WI. When I am at home in Madison, I train by myself.
What is the origin of your dog’s name?
To make a long story short--while pregnant, her mother Peanut (the Nut) stole and ate way too much of my 85% dark chocolate while I was busy cleaning out the garage. She and two of her cohorts needed to have peroxide administered. I think nuts and chocolate form a great combo in Nutella.
Tell us an interesting story or fact about your dog.
The Zeke x Peanut litter all started their life with candy names to honor Peanut's continued love of chocolate.
You and your dog have made it through nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to win the 2023 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?

Into the pond, cut the left corner and across the land bridge – hunted the area in front of the guns and the area to the right of the fall, back to the cover and then back to the bird.

R – Down the hill and screeched to a stop between the guns and the tree. Turned into the branches and got it!
L – Up the hill and over the ridge and hunted the back side – worked it out and got her bird.

F – She had a very long bird. Angled out behind the gunners, hunted deep left and right. A very extended hunt. **Picked up. The bird was out of the area and the dog will Re-Run.
