F – Across the 1st point, past the 2nd point and out under the arc, a quick left turn and right to his bird!
L – Left of the cedar and across the pond to exit under the arc, a quick loop left and then over to his bird.
Vig and John came to the line at 3:57 pm and had a No-Bird on the flyer. They will be back in 5.

LB – Left of the rock, crossed the road, out to the guns and just passed them and stopped and turned left straight to his bird.
RB – Took a left line out across the field for a perfect line and mark!

LB – Up the field towards the fall area and missed it – tight turn and he got it!
RR – Through the dip up hill left of the brush, kept driving up the hill – wide left and out of view, saw him at the top of the hill wide left and then lost sight again over the hill. Dog was picked up.

S – Through the slot straight to the cedars and dug out his bird.
LR – From the mat directly to the bird – Nailed it!

S – Across the pond, out under the arc and then left down the point before working his way back to the bird.
L – Angled down the terrace and across the pond, out under the arc, up the hill and one loop, then straight to the bird.

F – From the mat, straight to the bird!
LB – Down into pond 1, out high left on the broad point and nicely into pond 2, drove up tight to the right and behind the gunner, left and then over to the bid.

F – Headed towards the guns – under the arc and went left, back to right and found his bird!
L – Wide left line but curved in straight to the bird!

F – Great line to the shore, left and right at the edge of the pond, then out and up to his bird!

When did you begin competing in Field Trials?
I ran my first field trial in 1971.
What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I guess a competitive nature and a fascination with what these dogs can do.
Who are your training partners at home?
Robbie Bickley, Tracy Wight, Cindy Vinzant, Don Ritter, Russ Hardy, and a host of people that occasionally join the group.
Finally my wife Martha who is my spiritual leader, emotional stabilizer, training advisor, coach and best friend.
What is the origin of your dog’s name?
An old Italian business tradition.

His story is a work in progress, with all the best chapters ahead of him.
You and your dog have made it through nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to win the 2023 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?

Down the hill with a nice angled entry into the pond, carried this angle across the water, and then went straight up the left side of the hill to the cover and his bird.

R – In to the left side of the tree, under the branches and he got his bird.
L – Up just past the bird, over the terrace and then straight back to the bird.
