Test Description - 4th Series
Test 4 is a Water Double
We've got all 49 dog teams back to the 4th series! Test 4 is set up in the Derby Field. The day has now warmed up to 65 degrees, with clear skies and a light southwest wind.
The running mat is facing southeast, looking out across a field featuring two ponds with steep levees.
Bird #1 is a dead hen mallard. The gunners sit 223 yards from the line and throw their bird Right to Left and angled in. It lands behind a willow tree. The line to this bird requires the dog to climb the levee at an angle to enter the water. We will refer to this bird as L for Left.
Bird #2 is a drake mallard flyer. The gunners sit tight to a group of cedar trees 178 yards from the mat and shoot their bird from Left to Right. The line to this bird requires the dog to climb the levee at an angle to enter the water. We will refer to this bird as F for Flyer.
This test is taking approximately 6.5 minutes per dog.

When did you begin competing in Field Trials?
2017
What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I was competing in hunt tests and went to pick a well bred pup out for my next dog. The breeder told me that the stud dog owner couldn’t decide between a male or a female and he had kept the pick of the litter for both sexes until he decided. The breeder told me if I promised to run field trials with this pup I could have which ever pup he didn’t take. I kept my promise and started running derbies the next year and was hooked. I love this sport.

My wife and kids usually, but train as often as I can with Gregg Johnson, Todd Christensen, Cindy Galaster, Dan Inn, and Doug Hansen.
