Test Description – 6th Series

We’ve moved across the property to Middle Lake Field. It’s warmed up to 80 degrees and there is a 13 mph wind blowing across the field from Left to Right.

Test 6 is a Water Double.

The running mat is perched atop a hill overlooking several pieces of water.  The field is a bowl shape, with large rolling hills surrounding the water.

Bird #1 is a Dead Drake Mallard. The gunners sit halfway up the far hill, 308 yards from the mat and shoot their bird from Right to Left. The line to this bird requires the dog to angle across the first piece of water. Upon exit, they run along a broad point and cross a land bridge to get into the second piece of water. Once out of the water, they must shoulder the wind and climb a steep hill to the bird. There are two cedar trees short and right of the gunners that may draw the dogs right. We’ll call this bird LB for Long Bird.

Bird #2 is a Hen Mallard Flyer. The gunners shoot the bird angled back from Left to Right, 145 yards from the line. This mark takes the dogs down a steep hill through the draw where they must then angle across a steep side hill to get their bird. We’ll call this bird F for Flyer.

This test is taking approximately 6.5 minutes per dog.

Callbacks to the 6th Series

38 dogs were called back: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 42, 43, 45, 46, 49, 50, 51 and 52
