Good Morning!

Good Morning from the 7th Series location here at the National Derby Championship! It is a lovely and crisp morning here in Sedalia. We have bright blue clear skies, and the temps are currently at 59 degrees. It is looking like it will be a clear and sunny day with temps reaching up into the upper 70's. There are some windy conditions expected this afternoon/in a few hours, but for now we just have a 9 mph NW wind that is fairly light.

We will be getting started with the 7th Series shortly, but we have some important announcements first from the Field Trial Committee.

First, please note that Dog #45 has been reinstated and called back to the 7th Series, so we will have 30 dogs called back to run the 7th Series.

IMPORTANT EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT:

Yesterday (Wednesday, October 11th, 2023) at the National Derby Championship, Judge Alan Madsen became sick after the 6th series. He was taken to the doctor and tested positive for COVID via 2 tests.

A field trial committee meeting convened and in a unanimous action, Alan was excused from his assignment due to concerns for his health and safety, as well as the health and safety of all participants. Hopes and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery for Alan!

The field trial committee utilized the AKC rule book to guide us in seeing a replacement. Fortunately, a very qualified West Region Judge was available and willing to step in. We welcome Wayne Jensen, of Colorado.

Bear with us this morning with a slight delay. We’ll soon continue the 2023 National Derby Championship. Good luck to all!
