It’s the final day of the 2023 National Derby Championship! For this 8th Series test we are in Grader Field of Wood Dale Farm, where the mat faces northeast. It’s a cool 60 degrees, with drizzly rain and a 13-mph wind coming from the south.
Test 8 is a Land Single with a Drake Mallard
This dead Drake is thrown Left to Right, across a road where it lands 290 yards from the mat. The line to this bird takes the dog across a long, steep sidehill, sloping to the left. Once at the bottom of the hill, the dog must climb out by angling up a steep hill, across a road, clipping the left side of a mound, and finally crossing two additional roads for their bird.
This test takes approximately 2 minutes per dog.
