Started in 2002
What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
My training partner suggested it to me. He said I had a nice derby dog ....I did not know what a derby was lol. I competed in hunt tests at the time.
Who are your training partners at home?
Earl Dillow was my mentor. He took the time to teach me how to train young field trial dogs. How to train water. He told me once I've given you 98 % , the rest you gotta learn on your own.
What is the origin of your dog’s name?
The old tv show The Green Hornet.1st Episode was in 1966.Kato was The Green Hornets side kick played by Bruce Lee
Tell us an interesting story or fact about your dog.
Walked him through the Tacomah Airport on a retractable leash at 8 weeks old. He wasn’t afraid of anything with all the people, carts, and what not. He couldn’t make it to the plane terminal because everyone wanted to pet him lol
You and your dog have made it through nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to win the 2023 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?
"Wild thing" by the Trogs (used in the movie Major League – Fits Kato well.)
Kato and Christopher came to the line at 9:35 am
Down the hill and ran the land bridge, angled up the hill towards the guns and turned in front of the guns towards the cover and found his bird.
