When did you begin competing in Field Trials?
I ran my first field trial in 2021 and have been hooked ever since!
What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?
I decided to compete in field trials because of my drive to become a better trainer and handler as well as my competitive nature and strong desire to win.
Who are your training partners at home?
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the help of Jag, Hunter and Tommy at home! I owe a special thank you to Bob Starky and Pat Burns for their mentorship over the past couple years.
What is the origin of your dog’s name?
Being from Eastern North Carolina, “Carolina”s” is from our roots. “Top Shelf” is the best and that’s what we’re striving to be.
Tell us an interesting story or fact about your dog.
I bought Bobo and told my wife it was for our daughter Molly, since she told me I didn’t need another dog. I told her every little girl needs a once in a lifetime dog.
You and your dog have made it through nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to win the 2023 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?

Bobo and Matt came to the line at 9:24 am
Great line down the hill and across the pond towards the guns with a loop short, hunted the area around the guns and then went deep – worked his way back to the fall area and then the cover and he had his bird.
