Entry Questionnaire

Owner Name: L William Goldstein MD

Dog Full Name: Dealer’s Choice VIII

When did you begin competing in Field Trials? 1982

What made you decide to compete in Field Trials?

Initially, I wanted a dog that I could handle while duck hunting

Who are your training partners at home?

Winger Zinger and Thunder Launcher and occasionally Steve Costa

What is the origin of your dog’s name?

He is out of my dog Hunter’s Choice who was named after the book by Archibald Rutledge , the poet laureate of South Carolina. Dealer’s Choice came from another of my favorite authors Tom Kelly, who is mainly concerned with writing about turkey hunting.

Tell us an interesting story or fact about your dog.

Rip has always been somewhat of a child prodigy. He has always from an early age, amazed me at his ability to mark, and pick up the nuances of field trials such as retired birds, running blinds, both land and water. Therefore, Rip won a qualifying before he won his first derby. I feel like Rip is going to be one of those “Once in a Lifetime “type of dogs

You and your dog have made it through nine series of the National Derby Championship. You are about to come to the line for the 10th series with a chance to win the 2023 National Derby Champion. What song and artist would you want to hear playing as the two of you come to the line?

"Soul Man" By Sam And Dave

Rip and William came to the line at 8:01 am

Down the hill and angled into the pond, swam across in a nice angle, up the hill under the arc, made one circle around the throwers and out to cover, and got his bird!
